Polish Coal
Warmth and hearty fires all the way from Poland
Polish coal has always been our ‘flagship product’ here at the Dandy’s Derrynoose. Well, to be more precise, Lowest Cost Hayes Black Diamond Polish Coal has been our top of the range and bestselling coals. Our customers call it ‘The Mercedes of Coal’ and with good reason. It is premium grade coal with a nice high heat and low ash. A perfect combination. These little nuggets of warmth come to us from over 2,000 km away and provide a lovely fire on a cold evening.
Poland is the second largest coal mining county in Europe and the industry is of strategic importance to the Polish economy. Compared with other EU member states, Poland has much larger reserves of coal, mainly located in Upper Silesia and in the Lublin basin in the east of Poland. Mining is fully mechanised here and the coal reserves in this region contain a staggering 400 coal seams. It is estimated that there are enough coal reserves in the Polish mines for the next 190 years. So, we can be certain that it will continue to warm us right through our lifetime and beyond. Coal exports has brought Poland some very valuable foreign currency revenue over the years, and it is said that the mines fuelled the economic recovery of the country since World War 11. 70% of is own electricity is generated from coal and while the move away from fossil fuels may be having an effect, it is still an industry and a valuable product.
It is important to note that polish coal is not smokeless and can only be used outside of designated smokeless areas as it contains bituminous coal. We also supply Premium Polish Black Diamond Doubles; Doubles are slightly smaller pieces of than the size of coal and are very suitable for use in a stove or an open fire. Again, Hayes premium polish doubles is a long burning and high heat output coal which lasts longer than other bituminous coals.
Lowest Cost Hayes Black Diamond Polish Coal is available in both 40 Kg bags from our yard in Derrynoose or available in 20kg bags for delivery on One Ton pallets to households all around the country.
Polish coal is not the only fuel we sell, but we know that it is of a very consistent quality, and we have had nothing but positive feedback for years from our customers. We would recommend that you use slack on top of coal in an open fire and use singles on top of coal on a stove to keep the fire in at night. As the night draw in once again, those of us who treasure the warmth of a real coal fire, appreciate Polish coal in our hearth.
